Mark Duncan : Keyboards / Synths / Sampling / Scratching and Fairy Dust Sprinkling
I've had a love for music ever since I can remember . One of my earliest memories is hearing 'We've only just begun' by the Carpenter's whilst eating a bowl of cornflakes when I was about two years old (not sure why that's relevant, but there you go)
During my childhood , and the start of my vinyl addiction, I was generally into bands such as Specials, Madness and Genesis ,
but always had a 'thing' for dance music.
During the mid eighties I swung my attention towards dance music, trying my hardest to get hold of decent dance records from the USA , although these were few and far between in those days, most things unfortunately lapsing into 'cheesy sampler use' territory because at the time it was 'new , fab and groovy'
Then around 1986 I got hold of my first 'house' records. Whilst the technology available at the time meant that certain old records now sound incredibly dated (hey, it was over 15 years ago) , I still don't believe that much has changed in what makes a 'good' house record .
A decent beat, heavy bass line and enough 'ear candy' is really all that's required when you're on the dance floor.
Around 1988 the 'house' culture exploded in Britain, and I was gleefully swept along into it. I started to go out and hear numerous brilliant ,and which have now become 'classic', house tunes and bought whatever ones i could find.
I then started to mix dj house and techno. Two years later I was playing old hardcore rave and house on 'Green apple' pirate radio.
Since then i've been dj'ing at various events across the country, the most recent and biggest event for me, was playing at 'We Love....Homelands' festival in June 2002, after winning a mixing competition in DJ magazine.
During 2000 I also started making a lot of my own tracks at home with a keyboard, pc, and years of dj'ing experience.
Generally everything I produce or remix tends to have that certain 'breakbeat' element, even when I try my hardest to avoid it.

www.waxequestrian.co.ukKlondyke is so refreshing for me to work on because the marriage between myself as a DJ, with a good ear for what works on a dancefloor , and Andy , with his more structured '3 minute pop song' approach to creating , tends to meet nicely in the middle with little or no friction between us or the sounds created (except where a bit of filth is required in the sound)
Please try to remember when listening to any tracks i've been involved in making, that they have ALL been made at home with little or no 'proper' studio equipment, nothing really except the basics, and a burning desire to make music.
Keep taking the tablets...... ciao luvvies
